How to Appeal a Premature Medicare Discharge
Educated choices require you to have access to the proper resources. We want to encourage you to educate yourself so you can make the best decisions for your loved ones when the time comes.
Do you have questions about how to appeal Medicare & Premature Discharge Options? If so, we have linked the article you need to review.
Most people are initially assured that they are eligible for 90 days of rehab through Medicare. The keyword here is “eligible.”
The rehab must submit proof of improvement or progress every few days to recertify for continued coverage by Medicare. Too often people are suddenly told that they must be discharged the next day because Medicare benefits are being denied. It is important to remember that you always have the right to appeal the decision with Medicare, and the rehab can help you do that.
The appeals are often approved and will extend the rehab stay. It is also important to remember that the rehab cannot make a discharge that is “unsafe.”
